Rockburn 'The Chosen' Pinot Noir 2023, 777, Parkburn Vineyard, Central Otago

From clone 777 the bouquet showcases a robust and vibrant attack, scents of dried herb and savoury hillside Otago complexity, core scents of plum and dark cherry, some dried raspberry then barrel spice and gentle smoky wood layer. On the palate a firm and dry wine with texture and backbone from tannins and acidity. Fruit flavours mirror the bouquet, there’s a clay stone earthy quality and lengthy persistent textures and flavours. A delicious wine with length and power, some velvet mouthfeel moments and salivating finish. Best from 2028 through 2036.
