Champagne Roger Manceaux 'Heritage' 2012, Reims, France
The base wines for the Champagne were aged in old barrels before blending and tirage. I love this style of Champagne for its complexity and intensity, the flavours of peach and brioche are delicious, grapefruit and strawberry are charming. The core of autolysis carries not only a baked goods quality, it also has a sense of soil with a chalky undertone and minerality. A fine mousse expected of a wine with this age is perfectly placed and the flavours of citrus and stone fruits are persistent. Balanced, well made and ready with best drinking from day of purchase through 2028. Exceptional value
