The opportunity to taste aged Pinot Noir in NZ is rare. This current release from the Foxes Island stable captures a sense of site and time with scents of gravelly clay soils, savoury preserved cherries and red fruits of plum. There’s a bottle development layer with scents of lees and vegemite then barrel spices of clove, toast and cinnamon. On the palate complex and dry, textured and layered with a savoury saline Awatere core, flavors of preserved red berry fruits, a touch of leather and developing complexities. A lovely wine that offers a window of opportunity to experience ageing red wine with complexity, charm and a sense of place and time. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2030.
