Dunleavy The Family Merlot Blend 2016, Waiheke Island

A blend dominated by Merlot with the Cabernets and Syrah making a cameo appearance. Plums and dark berries, pencil lead and olives, toasty wood and a stony earthy qualities. On the palate - a dry wine with medium+ weight, softening tannins and medium acidity. A balanced and well made dry red wine with a decent core of fruit supported by oak and texture. Best drinking is upon purchase and through 2023.
