Alexia Happy Wife Chardonnay 2019, Hawkes Bay
Really lovely bouquet with a noticeable scent of oak spice and toasty wood then aromas of baked stone fruits, some apple and grapefruit peel. There’s a light scent of white flowers and mineral adding complexity and intrigue as well. On the palate - youthful textures and drive with flavours of citrus peel and new season apple then firm white fleshed stone fruits then back to oak. Medium + weight and acidity, fine wood tannins and a youthful fairly lengthy finish. Decant for service or leave in the cellar till mid 2021 (at least) then enjoy through 2024+.
