Scout Pinot Noir 2019, Omihi, Waipara

Complex, intriguing and varietal with aromas of silty chalky soil then red fruits of dark cherry, some raspberry then baking spices of vanilla and bacon finishing with a mild wood smoke layer. On the palate - tense, youthful, textured and complex. Flavours of soil and fruits mirror the nose and are at the core; tannins are firm, chalky and vibrant; acidity fresh. A young wine still, but given time will integrate and develop much more complexity. Lengthy detailed finish. Best drinking from 2021 through 2027+.
