Sileni Cut Cane Grand Reserve Merlot 2018, Hawkes Bay

The core and heart of the bouquet is Merlot with aromas and flavours of plums and dark cherry, clove and vanilla, dark wood spices and brown sugar. The wine is dry, but seems only just so with a creamy warmth due to the alcohol and intensity of fruit. The wine is in balance with a decent layer of acidity, abundant yet easy to assimilate tannins and even persistent complexity. Well made with a lengthy finish. Drink now and through 2022.
