Tense, youthful, spicy, fresh, varietal and enticing wine. Flavours of firm green pear, red apple, honeysuckle and quince. A layer of white spice and fleshy white nectarine add depth and charm. Off-dry with contrasting acidity adding weight and flesh to the texture. Lengthy finish, a lovely wine, well made and delicious. Best drinking from today and through 2022.

Valli Waitaki Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018, North Otago

Varietal with a core of fruit, loaded with Pinosity, fruit, minerality and style. Flavours on the palate include cherries and plums, roses and lavender, crushed stones and limestone. The tannins are fine, chalky textured and define the structure supported by acidity and a core of flavour. Th is a delicious wine with a heart of Pinot Noir, enticing flavours and long finish. Complexity is medium+ though I expect this to grow in the coming 24 to 36 months. Drink now and through 2025.
