Misha's Vineyard

Misha’s Vineyard The Starlet Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Central Otago

An almost sensual bouquet of SB with aromas of sweet minerals, white flowers and luscious citrus fruits. Next come the varietal kick that can only be the pungency and herbaceous side of the variety. A light salty note completes the bouquet. On the palate - tense, tart, fruity, youthful and dry. Flavours immediately reflect the fresh herbs and ripe citrus. Whispers of tropical fruit and white flowers. Great structure with high acidity, moderate alcohol all rolled into a light-weight package. Lovely wine - drinking well now and through 2022. Should cellar and develop some great secondary characters overtime.

An enticing, fragrant and developing toasty bouquet, quite complex and very engaging. Aromas include grapefruit, green apple, tart white peach and a squeeze of lime. There’s a floral mineral core of white blossom and cold stone. On the palate - light-weight, crisp, fruity, refreshing and dry. Flavours suggests citrus and white stone fruit, apple and apricot stone. The finish is long, calm, persistent and varietal. Will continue to develop over the next tens years with ease. A lovely wine to enjoy from today and through 2029.

Misha’s Vineyard Limelight Riesling 2019, Central Otago

One of my absolute favourite Rieslings from NZ - with this new release example the best I have encountered from the MV stable. Aromas of lime-flower and green mandarin, peach and crushed white minerals, floral scents and barley-sugar cordial. On the palate - in its classic off-dry style the initial thrust of sweetness immediately contrasted by ripe and refreshing acidity. The flavours reflect the bouquet and continue for sometime. The palate finishes refreshed and ready for the next sip. A lovely wine with a great varietal core and lengthy finish. Drink now and through 2025+.

Misha’s Vineyard The Gallery Gewurztraminer 2018, Central Otago

Fragrant yet subtle too, aromas of lavender and rose, honeysuckle and white fleshed tree fruits, a whisper of citrus, loads of fragrant spices. On the palate - off dry in a just medium style. Contrasting acidity highlights the spices first then citrus and tree fruit last. The exotic and curious of this wine are the tropical fruit I can’t quite name, the flowers return as taste. A lovely wine with a lengthy, familiar and tasty finish. Great balance, varietal and ready. Drink now and through 2023+.
