Thomas Barton Réserve Saint-Émilion 2023, Bordeaux, France
Youthful purples and ruby hues lead to a bouquet of violets and dark berries, blackberry then Doris plums, a fine layer of dried herbs then a gentle touch of barrel with spices of powdered clove and vanilla. A soft and elegant bouquet overall. Dry, fruity, some tautness and softness as the wine begins to coat the palate. Tannins and acidity show a chalky texture with a layer of freshness then fruit flavours of dark berries plums follow. Oak once again has a lighter touch layering in complexity and whisper of barrel smoke. Well made with a decent finish. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2032.
