Unlikely Companions Sea Salt Kelp Gin, New Zealand
Uncut: The classic juniper scent greet the nose first with a medium+ impact, then a soft rounded almost creamy flow into the nasal passages. Further aromas of salty air, coriander and a hint of dill suggest a spirit with complexity. Definitely intrigue. On the palate - a soft touch on the palate then gentle burn of alcohol. The heat fades quickly to reveal spirit with a definitive saline character, then seaside/sea air attributes. For me, the dill and coriander along with juniper are the main flavours detected. The softness and roundness that touched the nose and now palate continue. Lengthy and quite delicious.
Cut with Antipodes water - equally delicious, a little rounder again on the palate with more juniper and florl then dill highlights. The saline quality is distinctive.
I had this neat then in a gin and tonic - very nice.
