Champagne Malard Cuvée Premium Grand Cru Brut NV, France

Distinctive and developing bouquet, aromas of extended autolysis, peach and baked apple, there’s a hint of marmite then chalky soil qualities. Dry and quite delicious on the palate with a bold and expressive mousse carrying flavours of citrus and nut with a leesy quality. Excellent acid line and length, balanced and well made. A wine that is great on its own or with richer dishes, I tried it with a falafel and roasted vegetable dish resting on beetroot humus - a worthy match. Best from day of purchase through 2030.
