Champagne Malard Cuvée Excellence Brut NV, France

Deep straw hues with flecks of yellow with gold, and a fine persistent bead lead to a bouquet of fresh apple and lemon peel, a seam of autolysis that speaks of nut and biscuit then peach. A dry wine with a burst of mousse and acidity carrying flavours of red apple and lemon, melon then white peach. As the wine warms on the palate a strawberry quality emerges. The autolysis is persistent, the mousse is fine and persistent. Overall a lovely wine in an aperitif style with a biscuit and nut quality. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2029.
