Villa Maria 'Library Release' Pinot Noir 2017, Marlborough
It’s always exciting to taste a library release wine from a reputable producer. This 2017 expression is ready with just the right amount of development showcasing a mix of mineral and earth qualities underpinning red berry flavours and integrating tannins. The acid line is still prominent ensuring this wine will continue to cellar well, the tannins and earthy features show how PN can develop some complex and interesting secondary characteristics. Flavours of plums and red cherries, a ripe and tart mouthfeel delivers flavour and texture. The tannins are firmish and still integrating. A wine of complexity and charm, lighter weight through the palate and with plenty of length. Best drinking from 2024 through 2030.
