Ataahua Riesling 2017, Waipara

Some golden hues in the main body of the wine, lots of shine and polish to the appearance. Aromas and flavours of a toasty developing wine with limes and peach, some lemon and yellow apple flavours. As the wine opens out across the palate the flavours of lemon and toasty citrus fruits develop and broaden supported by a back bone of acidity and freshness. There’s a brief sweetness as the wine touches the palate, this is superseded by the flavours of the Meyer lemon signature of this site is as strong as the mineral stone layering in a sense of place. Well made and quite lengthy, a wine that feels ready to drink now, but will also develop more complexities over time. Best from day of purchase and through 2030.
