Champagne Roger Manceaux Héritage Grand Cru 2012, France
It’s not often I get the opportunity to taste and appreciate the efforts of winemakers efforts from the 2012 vintage - so with much excitement I eased the cork from this example. The bouquet is delicate and complex with scents of a near fully integrated autolysis of croissant and drying brioche, miso and oatmeal. On the palate these ideas appear with a seamless unfurl, then flavours of stone fruits and citrus, autolysis effect and layers of texture. The mousse is filled with a fine bubbles carrying acidity and flavour, chalk and white clay, strawberry and drying stone fruit and apple flavours. An excellent wine with finesse and charm. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2028. Fantastic value.
