Elephant Hill STONE Syrah 2019, Hawke's Bay

It’s hard not to think Northern Rhone when nosing this wine for the first time, but it is all Hawkes Bay with a baked gravel stone minerality, a core of dark red fruits, black currant and violets, baked plum and aged meats. The oak scents add breadth and complexity with anise and clove, smoke and new wood intensity. Fantastic on the palate with warmth, intensity and complexity. Flavours of dark berries and black currant, along with raspberry and spices invade the palate senses. Taut mouthfeel with tannins and back bone of acidity leading to fruits flavours that mirror th nose. Complex and lengthy a delicious wine. Best drinking from mid to late 2023 through 2030+.
