Elephant Hill Salomé Chardonnay 2020, Hawke's Bay
There’s a deep seated complexity at the core of the bouquet. I love the way the bouquet grabs my attention with aromas of ripe yellow fleshed stone fruits, cashew nut, citrus peel and baking spcies of oak, then a mineral quality. A powerful wine on the palate, youthful and taut, ripe and new with flavours of peach and nectarine, smoky bacon-oak qualities and grapefruit peel, moments of butterscotch and toasty barrel.Fine tannins and noticeable acid line layer in mouthfeel and intensity as well as carrying the core mineral attributes. A delicious wine. Ther’s no hurry to drink at this stage, but I do suggest you invest with best drinking from late 2023 through 2029+.
