Matakana Estate Syrah 2014, Matakana, Auckland

Varietal, fruity, integrated and ready with aromas of dark berries and leather, aged meats and peppery spices, toasty barrel and dried violets. Flavours of raspberry and plum, firm tannins and medium+ acidity. There’s a nut and spice along with some wood smoke from barrel ageing along with leather and aged meat flavours. Still ageing, but overall all feels ready. Best enjoyed with food. Best drinking from day of purchase and through 2026.
