Smith & Sheth Cru Albariño 2020, Heretaunga, Hawkes Bay

A long slow deep inhale of this wine’s bouquet reveals many of the true varietal signature aromas - golden queen peaches and citrus peel to nuances of tropical fruits and whispers of salty air. A fine leesy layers adds an additional texture and promise. On the palate - powerful, fruity and textured with flavours of citrus first and stone fruits second. Plenty of texture from acidity and less, warming alcohol and a core of fruit. Well made, youthful, vibrant and delicious. Still rather youthful too with lots of palate texture and energy. Best drinking from late 2021 through 2025+. A step up from the 2019 - and that was a lovely wine!
