Falconhead Merlot Cabernet 2016, Hawkes Bay

Ripe, youthful and fruit centric bouquet with a mix of dark berries and plums - both fresh and starting to dry-out, soft vanilla and toasty barrel scents of oak then a dry stone almost gravel earthy quality. On the palate - satin textures of integration and a core of fruit show casing flavours that reflect the nose, integrating tannins, medium acidity and firm-(ish) texture. This wine is ready to enjoy upon purchase and through 2022. Best with food as well - perhaps lean meats or Italian pasta dishes.
