Tamar Ridge Reserve Pinot Noir 2019, Kayena, Tasmania
Youthful, varietal and complex bouquet with aromas of fresh dark cherry, fresh and dried raspberry, layers of oak, toasty barrel scents and sandy clay mineral soil suggestions. There’s a subtle savoury layer that appears after the wine opens up in glass. Dry, savoury and complex on the palate with flavours that mirror the nose. There’s a youthful intensity and vibrato harnessing both flavour and texture showcasing firm tannins with chalky textured edginess, balanced acid line and flavours of dried rose and baking spices on the finish. A lovely example I’d drink any day of the week. Best from 2022 through 2030+.
