Nga Waka Pinot Noir 2018, Martinborough

A lovely sweet scented perfume of roses leads to aromas of red apple and cherry, a cranberry note then soft dried herb suggestions - savoury, youthful and varietal overall. On the palate - and as the wine begins to open up in glass - there’s a strawberry moment before textures from the tannins and abundant acidity kick-in. Fruit and non-fruit flavours reflect the bouquet. There’s a youthful vibrant charm, plenty of pinosity and a balanced, well made and moderate finish. Best drinking from today and through 2023.
