Tony Bish Heartwood Chardonnay 2019, Hawkes Bay
Tasted over two days
Day two is when this wine starts to really tell its story showcasing aromas of ripe grapefruit and yellow orchard fruits, a baking spice and creamy custard layer, noticeable complexity with synergies from baking spices and fruits, shape and texture surrounds the bouquet with a mineral stone - like core. On the palate - an immediate satin mouthfeel is contrasted by the youthful bite of oak and some of its fine tannins. Medium acidity accentuates the citrus, apple and yellow orchard fruit flavours. Curiously complex, detailed, youthful and lengthy. A really lovely wine with longevity on its side as well as early drinking. Best drinking from early 2021 through 2025+.
