Coopers Creek Single Barrel, Select Vineyards Lagrien 2016, Gisborne
Scents of flowers and red berries, clay and dry stone soil, brown spices and a whisper of cocoa, an intriguing bouquet. On the palate - flavours of red berries, some cherry and old strawberry, fine tannins with a mild chalky edge and medium acidity. There’s more weight and immediacy than a Pinot Noir, but there are also similarities with the finesse of the tannins and harmonious palate appeal. Moderate+ finish, balanced and well made, drinking best from today and through 2022.
