Tohu Whenua Matua SV Chardonnay 2017, Upper Moutere, Nelson

There’s no mistaking the grab of wood spices and toastiness of oak then the roasted stone fruits of peach and nectarine begin to emerge. Other aromas include grapefruit peel and river stones, a floral and light flinty note. Overall quite complex and very engaging. On the palate - full-bodied, toasty, fruity and creamy with some finer wood tannins and a nuttiness adding bite and texture. Medium acidity with a nice core of fruit, balanced and well made. Best drinking from today and through 2023.
