Misha’s Vineyard Verismo Pinot Noir 2014, Central Otago

Be sure to give this wine the time to open up - ten minutes is good - the bouquet is complex and detailed releasing aromas of aromatic spices, rocks and soil, roses and wild thyme, red cherry, dried raspberry and toasty spices of French oak. On the palate - youthful, dry, tense and poised for more ageing. Flavours reflect the nose with intensity and persistence, but also nervousness and textures from chalky tannins and medium+ acidity and bottle development still underway. There’s a lengthy complex finish which only arrives after 30 minutes - so decanting is recommended as well as appropriate stemware. Best drinking from 2021 through 2030+
