Mills Reef Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay

Bold and broody bouquet with dark berries - baked and fresh, no mistaking the layers of oak and gravel earth attributes with dry river stone aromas. Overall a complex and appealing bouquet. On the palate - youthful still with plenty of acidity, firm tannins, tobacco and cigar, toasty dark spiced oak and dark berry fruit flavours. The varietal signature of blackberry is strong and alongside the flavours of wood and a foundation structure that is sturdy - this wine will last for some time yet. Decant for service and serve with food. Best drinking from 2021 through 2027.
