Matawhero Irwin Chardonnay 2017, Gisborne
Bold bouquet loaded with nuts and cream, toasted wood spices, baked yellow fruits and red apple then grapefruit and cashew. On the palate - quite warm, but rich in flavour and character, medium acidity, plenty of toasty wood with vanilla and clove then baked fruits and nuts. A full-bodied creamy and well made wine with some fine+ wood tannins, decent fruity layer, weight and generosity. Best drinking from today and through 2022.
