Dunstan Road

Dunstan Road Reserve Pinot Noir 2014, Alexandra, Central Otago

An intriguing bouquet of Pinot Noir with aromas of dried herbs and red cherry, some plum and fruit spices, dried rose and wood smoke. On the palate - a dry wine wine a silky texture at first moving through to a firm version as the tannins and acidity engage. Flavours of plum and red cherry, some red apple then baking spice. Overall, a well made wine, just moderate in weight, balanced and ready. Drink from today and through 2024.

Great colour with a dark ruby core moving to a light ruby and pink rim. Aromas match this youthful appearance with raspberries, red apples and red cherries with a plum note. Also on show is a lifted aromatic that suggests flowers and a light burn of alcohol. On the palate - dry, warm and fruity. A fleshy texture and core of fruit is contrasted by youthful tannins. Plenty of acidity, youthful and fresh. Beginning to show some development movements a wine that should be decanted for service and enjoyed from today and through 2025.

Dunstan Road Reserve Pinot Noir 2016, Alexandra, Central Otago

Lovely bouquet of Pinot Noir with light red fruit of plum and cranberry then some red cherry and raspberry notes. On the palate - dry, tart, youthful and varietal. Flavours of a young Pinot Noir with cherry and cranberry in the lead. Moderate level of chalky tannins with plenty of acidity adding crispness and a crunchy texture. Moderate finish, still coming into balance, but overall well made. Decant for service and serve with food. Best drinking late 2020 through 2024.
