The Cardrona Single Malt Whisky 'Sherry Cask' Central Otago

Deep amber hues with a hint of orange and brown lead to a bouquet of lift and freshness, fragrant, fruity and enticing with scents of sea air and apple, very floral with a mix of wild and domestic stems. Overall a fine bouquet. Uncut the dram lands on the palate lightly then releases flavours of orange and yellows fruits, persimmon and yellow plum then apple. Delicious fresh and ready. Cut with a few drops of Antipodes water the whisky transforms into a silky smooth mouthfeel, with persistent flavours that mirror the nose, still very floral and fruity though not quite as long. Tasting again with half the water then the dram becomes richer and longer, a little more saline and textured. Flavours contrast the warmth naturally with a fine mouthfeel and finish. So, cut only if you feel the need to and if so with minimal water.
