Domaine Thomson Surveyor Thomson Pinot Noir 2017, Central Otago
Hues of red and some ruby with a develop gently fading from red rim. Aromas reveal a complex and developing bouquet of cherry and irons-sand, oak spices and mineral, cherry and autumnal fallen leaves and rose petals. Dry, textured mouthfeel, complex and enticing flavours. Fresh and dried cherry, plums and barrel spices with a lick of wood smoke. Firm-ish tannins with a rough chalky quality, plenty of acidity and grab. A lovely wine that can be aged longer in cellar or enjoyed tonight alongside higher protein fare. Well made with best drinking from 2025 through 2030.
