Windrush Organic 'Empire' Chardonnay 2023, Marlborough

A youthful, bright and open bouquet with scents of fresh grapefruit and white peach, there’s a leesy quality highlighting some of the youth as well as the complexity the winemaker intended. As the wine opens out in the glass aromas of clay and stony soils begin to appear as well as barrel smoke and spice. Full-bodied and dry with fine tannins and medium+ acid line, flavours of stone fruits and red apple, vanilla and a Brazil-nut cream idea. Well made, needs some cellar time still with best drinking likely from late 2025 or early 2026 through 2032.
