Smith & Sheth Cabernet Franc 2022, Heretaunga, Hawkes Bay

A delicious wine from start to finish with a bouquet of dark berries and dried herb, balking spices, black olive and gunflint. The use of oak is spot-on with just enough new to showcase the earth smoke side of the wine and layering in moments of leather and chocolate. Dry, textured and complex on the palate with flavours that mirror the bouquet, fine chalky tannins in abundance and a perfect line of acidity. Best drinking from early 2025 through 2030+.
