Churton Viognier 2023, Marlborough

A bright, naturally floral and fruit centric bouquet led by scents of soil a then white apricot, apple then flowers. On the palate a satin touch changes to spice then fruit, acidity then soil. There’s freshness and complexity, generosity and flavour. As the wine opens out in glass and settles the varietal signature becomes stronger with amplified flavours that mirror the bouquet. A lovely example, well made with some development time still to take place. Best drinking from late 2024/early 2025 through 2030.
