Passage Rock 'David' Syrah 2022, Waiheke Island

A nicely complex and enticing bouquet with the signature of place and style, rocks and barrels, dark berries and black currant. Firm and dry as the wine touches the palate, flavours of berries and plums, dry stone and textures of place. Firm tannins and acid line suggest more time in the needed, there’s a layer of wood smoke and baking spices, violet and lifted floral qualities. Well made and lengthy with a firmness and core of red fruit flavours, violets and spice. Best drinking from 2026 through 2030+. A wine to watch.
