Maude Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

I retrieved this wine from the cellar earlier today. It succinctly showcases how a great vintage, well managed vines and expert winemaking can come together and offer a wine of complexity, detail, outstanding mouthfeel and deliciousness can be achieved. Stepping into its stride after five years of careful cellaring, flavours and textures of dark cherry and spice, the earth-smoke quality are fantastic. Plenty of tannins with polish and power, a decent acid line prevails, both framing the core fruit and mineral savoury qualities that is the Maude style. Delicious and fresh with best drinking from 2025 through 2035+.
