Pask Declaration Syrah 2021, Gimblett Gravels, Hawke's Bay

A noticeable concentration of colour at the core followed by perfume and varietal fruit signatures of violet and plum, pure black currant, dark raspberry and darker skinned orchard fruits. There’s a layer of spice from clove to licorice to a whisper of pepper. Still very youthful as the wine touches the palate, tannins and acidity engage the senses quickly then contrasting core fruit flavours begin to melt these away. The oak signature of wood smoke and toasty spices seems well placed given the concentration both on the nose and palate. Well made with plenty of length and persistence. Best drinking from 2024 through 2029+.
