Church Road 1 Single Vineyard Syrah 2021, Red Stone , Hawkes Bay
A powerful and direct bouquet of balck currant and smoke, baked raspberry and daker kitchen spices of clove and cinnamon, roasted plums and gravelly stone soils. The oak is a feature with a roasted nut and spices attributes. Complex and youthful overall. A delicious wine on the palate, it is powerful too with high impact from acidity and tannins yet the core is all dark fruits with plums, raspberries, and wild forest berries. As the wine opens out on the palate flavours of new leather, clove, some pepper, licorice, anise, cacao and ageing meats start to unfurl. Lengthy, complex and dry, a firm structure from tannins and acidity, youthful, powerful and certain. A wine that will easily mature in your cellar yet can also be enjoyed today with the right food. Best drinking from 2026 through 2036.
