Riddoch 'The Pastoralist' Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, Coonawarra, South Australia
Opaque appearance with dark colour staining of the tears sheeting across the class, bright and youthful appearance. The bouquet says it all, ripeness, power, concentration, smoke and wood, chocolate and dark berries. Violets and charred nut, new leather and boot polish, black currant, blackberries and sweet cigar tobacco leaf layer. Full-bodied, dry, taut, youthful and concentrated as the wine touches the palate. Aromas from the bouquet manifest as flavours on the palate, plus violet and forest spices. Bold firm tannins and acidity are easily contrasted by the core fruit flavours and impacts of barrel. Lengthy finish, a lovely example, great drinking today though likely best from 2029 through 2045. Exceptional value.
