Jackson Estate Shelter Belt Chardonnay 2020, Marlborough

With some bottle age already in play the bouquet of this wine still seems youthful with intensity from both fruit and barrel, complexity and spice. Plenty of weight and texture as the wine touches the palate, flavours of roasted nectarine and fresh California peach, there’s a rich nutty quality too with barrel spices and a new wood power. Brazil nut and vanilla, burnt butter, grapefruit zest and peach, there’s a hard clay soil quality and a seamless complexity throughout. Still developing with best drinking from 2025 through 2034.
