Alice's Vineyard 'Trent's Home Run' Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Rogue Valley, Oregon, USA

Ripe, concentrated, powerful and varietal, a wine with a big bouquet and persistent package of aromas. Dark plums and baked blackberry-pie scents, licorice and dark clay soils, violets and roasted bell-pepper, dried herbs and a fine savoury complexity. The alcohol sends these aromas out of the glass at speed so several swirls and a few minutes engagement needed before a taste. An equal amount of concentration and ripe fruit flavours touch the palate at the same moment, blackberry and roasted plums, chocolate and five spice, firm tannins and medium+ acid line. Integrating well and will continue to do so for several year to come. Licorice and five spice, sweet oak and wood smoke, drying clay soils and stone layer in more ideas and complexity. If you have some of this wine in your cellar - keep it there. If you decide to drink it now then well done, this wine will reward. Be sure to keep the food relatively simple to let the wine win on the palate. Best drinking from 2027 through 2040.
