Misha's Vineyard "Verismo' Pinot Noir 2018, Central Otago

The bouquet takes several minutes to open up and show its youthful, taut, varietal and complex self. Core fruit aromas of fresh red cherry flesh laced with barrel spices then plum, barrel spice and earthy mineral qualities layer in next with a roasted nut, baking spices and smoky quality. Minerality and a sense of place underpins all. As the wine touches the palate there’s a continued sense of place with a savoury stone and wild earth quality before flavours of red berries, plums and dried raspberry once again showcase the variety. Taut squeeze with firm tannins and back bone of acidity. The oak intensity is in keeping with the style. This wine will develop even more complexities over time with best drinking from 2026 through 2036+.
