Spy Valley Envoy 'Johnson' Pinot Noir 2017, Waihopai Valley, Marlborough

A lovely bouquet of pinosity and charm, core fruit aromas of cherry and spice, a touch of leather then plum and a clay stone minerality. A wine that has some development on the palate as well with a mix of fresh and drying fruits, leather and baking spices from barrel and lees development. Dry, moderately weighted mouthfeel, firmish tannins and the acid line keeps the palate nicely squeezed with tension and some poise. Ready to drink from day of purchase through 2027.
