Greystone Thomas Brothers' Pinot Noir 2020, Waipara Valley, North Canterbury
So many scents to process and enjoy about this wine from its youthful core of dark red berry fruits to the compelxities of soil and barrel spices to the the harmonious highlights of dried herbs and baked nuts. On the palate a taut, dry and complex wine with flavours of ripe and tart berries, layers of tannins and acidity to bind all together. A wine that that will benefit from cellar time, but is quite drinkable today as well. I just feel that you will enjy this example better if it were aged more to showcase the links between fruit and site, winemaking and natural complexity. Therefore best drinking should be from 2026 through 2036 - perhaps longer.
