Quinta do Crasto Superior Red 2018, Douro, Portugal

An old world style bouquet driven by scents of rocks and mineral then dark red berry fruits, violets and dark flowers then toasty barrel suggestions. Lovely weight, power and texture on the palate with a core of ripe dark red berry flavours, firm tannins and acid line create a strong structure and mouthfeel. No mistaking there’s oak here, but the fruit soaks this up easily. A delicious wine with lovely palate appeal and length. Great drinking from 2022 through 2030.
