Castalia Wines Chardonnay 2005, Hawkes Bay

Deeply golden hues and bright appearance lead to an aromas of a fully integrated and developed wine. Scents of oak then butter popcorn and nut, perhaps some peach preserve and a toasty bottle-age quality. A full-bodied, smooth and creamy texture leads to echoes of peach and other stone fruit flavours. The oak and toasty barrel flavours remain strong while the fruit and varitel flavours have faded. Very low acid line. A wine that remains drinkable from day of purchase through end of 2022.
