Carrick Cairnmuir Terraces EBM Organic Chardonnay 2019, Central Otago

I tasted this wine over three days - reason being it has as a closed bouquet when first opened and is taut on the palate (day 1). Day 2 the wine begins to reveal some of its key aromas and textures with citrus and apple, a core of mineral and fine textured mouth feel. Day 3 and the wine is ready with a refined and elegant bouquet palate, fine silk texture with a core of citrus. Tree fruits, white fleshed orchard fruits, a hint of flint and floral highlights, layers of stone and mineral surrounded by fruit and lees qualities. Even though the wine has spent 18 months in French oak the flavours and textures overall represent fruit and place before oak spices and fine chalky tannin texture. Great drinking from 2023 through 2030..
