Takapoto Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2019, Hawkes Bay

A deepening golden hue and very bright appearance precedes a bouquet of power and intensity from ripe yellow stone fruits, barrel spices and toasty wood compexities. Apricot, nectarine and cashew nut follow with a smoky quality and raw sugar new wood suggestion. Full-bodied, creamy textured and rich in flavour and texture. Oak and fruit stand side by side with the nut and smoky qualities adding complexity and breadth. Medium+ acidity and plenty of wood flavours contrasting those of fruit. A big wine, still ageing, but drinkable today as well. Best from late 2023 through 2029+.
