Striking hues of dark ruby and purple with a youthful pink rim. Aromas of ripe, fleshy red berries and dark plum, sweet black olive, some dark peppercorn and savoury spice complexity. The oak layers on smoke and baking spice leading to a distinctive and alluring bouquet overall. On the palate - youthful with plenty of tannin tension, acidity and dried herb, savoury core. Contrasting flavours of raspberry and plums, boysenberry then barrel spices. Tannins add lots of mouthfeel and energy and there’s a light violet flick on the finish. Dry, lengthy and well made a wine that needs more cellar time to bring all the attributes closer together. Best drinking from late 2022 through 2030+.
